Sleeping with Daddy
I have to go back to work soon, so I was trying to get Zoe to fall into a better pattern than what we have been doing. She did pretty well and took a nap next to Thomas for about 2 hours.

Nights Alone
Zoe and I spend our evenings on our own. We mainly watch trivia shows, eat dinner and spend a quiet evening with few guests. The cat hangs out on the back of the chair behind us mostly and the dog sleeps on one of the sofas. We head for the bed around ten or so so that we will be up when daddy comes home.

Grandma and Granddaddy's Rededication
Thomas's parents had a rededication ceremony during the church service at Beulah Hill today. Thomas and I brought Zoe to Gretna to be a part of the special day. She slept through the entire service until the end when she wanted to be fed. She took a little part of a bottle but then got angry that she wasn't getting fed by me.
After the service we got home quickly and ate fast so that she and I could go to Jennifer's baby shower. The Homes.com table was quickly enamored with our bundle, especially Emily who got to meet her for the very first time.

Playtime and a visit from Granddaddy & Grandma
Jolene gave Zoe a playmat for Christmas and Zoe loves to hang out on the floor with me to play on it. Since she was so alert this evening we got in some playtime before Granddaddy and Grandma came over for a visit.
Grandma changed her very first Zoe diaper tonight so we had to get some pictures of that as well.

One Month Old
Our baby girl is one month old today. I took some pictures of her to replicate the ones we took when we first came home from the hospital for comparison (the one on the left is from a month ago). I swear she is growing right before our very eyes. She definitely won't fit in this outfit for next month's pictures.

Awake and Alert
The Supergirl has been really having more alert periods throughtout the day. She typically gets up around 9 and will stay up and play until 11 or so before she starts to get cranky and sleepy. I have been trying to use these times to play and interact with her while she is in the swing or bouncy seat. She prefers the bouncy seat in our office, but at least she will sit in the swing without crying now.

Our Day Out
Today was our big day out. Supergirl had her 3 week checkup as did I and we stopped by the park to visit with Grandma in between. She slept for a large chunk of it but woke up on the way home.
He doctor said that she is in the 75th percentile for her height and weight which is excellent. She got a perfect bill of health.
My doctor signed the release papers for me to go back to work in February (it seems so soon) and said that I was healing remarkably fast. I have lost 35 pounds since she was born. We'll see how long that will last after I go back to work.

First Bath
Since the Supergirl's umbilical cord stump fell off, it's time to have her first bath. We don't have a baby tub and I wasn't feeling great about the kitchen sink bath since she doesn't have control of the neck, so the Hubs got in the tub and took a bath with her. I guess this is how we are going to do it for a while. She loved it and seemed very at ease in the warm water.
First Smile
The Supergirl hit two major milestones today!
First her umbilical cord stump fell off (finally), the last sign that she was ever attached to me.
Secondly, she gave me her very first intentional awake smile. I cannot put into words the joy that seeing her smile back at me gives me, but it was an immensely emotional sight after all of these sleepless nights.
