First Christmas
Supergirl is one week old today. I can't believe it has already been a week. She had to go in for a weight check at the doctor's office and she is still weighing in at the same weight that she was when we left the hospital.
There was also a special worship gathering at church for Christmas Eve that the Hub's parents joined us for. As I expected from her behavior while I was pregnant, she loved the music and would fall asleep whenever the band would play. She does not like when Pastor M speaks and would wake up and fuss whenever he would speak. I was so exhausted anyway that I was having a hard time following the message so she and I hung out in the coffee bar for most of the service.
My dad was out of town for Christmas so we spent Christmas dinner with the Hub's parents (Grandma and Grandaddy) instead of splitting up the day like we normally do. Supergirl got to wear her special Christmas dress (albeit for a very short time since it was so cold and rainy). She has been going through a growth spurt for the last few days so she has been wanting to eat constantly. The Hubs and I had to split up our dinner times so that one of us could take care of her while the other one got to eat.
Supergirl received a whole toy box of gifts and books from her grandma, including books that the Hubs had when he was little and the baby blanket that she had crocheted when she found out that she was pregnant with him.

First Church Service
The Hubs and I had decided before Supergirl was born that her first church service would be at The Hub's parents church. This was their Christmas service and she did really well. She did need to be fed toward the end of service, but I had anticpated that.
I am still healing and may have pushed myself a little hard today because I was really struggling to stay awake on the way home.
JoDene and A came over later that evening. A seemed a little scared of Supergirl, but we were able to get a couple of pictures before he completely lost interest. He seemed to be more interested in what kind of food we had in the fridge.

First Visitors
Today was a busy day of visitors at home. Paw Paw (my dad) came by this afternoon after work. Supergirl seemed to recognize his voice and fell back to sleep quickly while he held her.
Teddy and Booker came by a little later to check out our new addition. Teddy was so helpful while I was pregnant, helping to get the nursery set up and everything that I was anxious for her to get to meet Supergirl.

First Car Ride and First Day Home
Our time in the hospital went by like a blur and before we knew it we were released from the hospital. We stopped by the office before driving home. Everyone there seemed excited by our beautiful little girl, but she slept right through all of their excitement.
I worried about her all the way home because I couldn't see her and was unable to turn around enough in my car seat to see her because of my incision. I was so relieved when we finally arrived home. I never would've thought that this would be a worry for me.
Supergirl seems to recognize the noises and chaos at home and is seeming to sleep more peacefully than she did at the hospital. She is so beautiful and wonderful, I am forgetting what life was like without her in it.

Welcome to the World!
After 9 months of eager anticipation, 15 hours of labor and a c-section, the Hubs and I greeted our healthy, beautiful baby girl into the world on December 17, 2007 at 10:48 PM.
At a whopping 9 pounds 3 ounces, she was the largest baby in the nursery that week. Her Apgar scores were all high (8 and 9 respectively) and she has her daddy's blood type, B+ as well as his ears.
With her head full of dark brown hair and piecing blue eyes she was also the most sought after newborn on the post-partum floor. Nurses from labor and delivery and the nursery were all coming to see the "most beautiful baby in the world". Grandparents of other babies were catching us in the hall to remark on how "stunning" our child was.
How proud her own grandparents were! Her grandma was smitten for our little Supergirl from the moment that she heard her first cry. I am glad that she had her there for the three hours that it took for them to weigh, measure and test her that Thomas and I could not be there for. What a blessing she has in her Grandma.
I hope to continue to keep up the posts on this blog as a gift to our family that lives out of town as well as a record for Supergirl to have in the future. I will repost again soon.
